Research activities and consultancy. 

Many of the lines of research indicated are carried out as part of the working relationships with, or consultancy offered to, local bodies and institutions outside the Department. As well as providing advice on many aspects of statistics methodolgy, the Department also offers consultancy and services on:

• analysis of social-economic conditions of households and individuals;
• statistical quality control;
• courses on statistical software;
• courses on statistical methodology;
• opinion surveys;
• sampling design;
• designs of experiments;
• demographic projections;
• design of Information Technology systems;
• statistics for marketing;
• environmental statistics;
• biostatistics;
• estimation of demand for services ;
• analysis of population in small areas;
• evaluation of training systems and procedures;
• evaluation of work labour market, welfare and health policies.

The Department also offers non curricular activities of an educational nature to both public and private organisations.
